Zwei IIS-Publikationen auf der ECIS 2021 angenommen

Wir freuen uns, dass zwei wissenschaftliche Beiträge von Marek Hütsch, Sarah Seufert, Tobias Wulfert und Jan Wernsdörfer für die ECIS 2021 angenommen wurden.

Die European Conference on Information Systems findet aufgrund der aktuellen Situation vom 14.-16. Juni online im Rahmen der Virtual AIS Conference Series statt. Die Konferenz steht unter dem Motto „Human Values Crisis in a Digitizing World“.

Die ECIS ist eine der renommiertesten Konferenzen für Akademiker und forschungsorientierte Praktiker der IS-Community weltweit. Das Ziel der ECIS 2021 ist es, einen Treffpunkt für Menschen im IS-Bereich zu bilden, um grundlegende und innovative Fragen im Zusammenhang mit Informationssystemen im Allgemeinen mit besonderem Fokus auf die Besonderheiten der EMEA-Region zu diskutieren.

Der erste Beitrag ist von Marek Hütsch und trägt den Titel "TRANSFER LEARNING TO ENABLE FLEXIBILITY OF DEMAND FORECASTING: DROPOUT PROFILES TO PROTECT FROM NEGATIVE TRANSFER".

Abstract:

One of the largest investments of a company is its implementation of an enterprise system. Sometimes, companies, and thus their enterprise systems, face changes that were not foreseen at the time the system was implemented. One example can be found in the COVID-19 pandemic in which retailers are facing the huge problem that current forecasting models no longer produce accurate forecasts and changes in feature spaces are needed. In this paper transfer learning and a proposed method, called dropout profiles, are used to react faster to changes in feature space. This method is implemented in a case study with changes in the feature space of a demand forecast. It is shown that the proposed method performs significantly better than traditional methods. In practice, this means that neural networks can expect a longer life cycle and companies can react faster to changes in the market.

Der zweite Beitrag wurde von Sarah Seufert, Tobias Wulfert und Jan Wernsdörfer verfasst und trägt den Titel "TOWARDS A REFERENCE VALUE CATALOGUE FOR A COMPANY-SPECIFIC ASSESSMENT OF THE IT BUSINESS VALUE – PROPOSING A TAXONOMY TO SELECT IT IMPACTS FROM EXISTING CATALOGUES".

Abstract:

Despite a general agreement on the business value of information technology (IT), the determination of the link between organizational performance and IT investments is still a challenge. Organizations worldwide heavily invest in IT without evidence of productivity improvements. We propose value catalogues as a starting point for the identification of IT business value in an organization. Since the values vary depending on the organizational context, a company-specific value catalogue is necessary. To avoid the repeated development of a catalogue for each new IT investment, a company-specific reference value catalogue is required. Applying a design science research method, we identified four steps to develop this reference value catalogue: catalogue selection, impact selection, hierarchy establishment, and quantification determination. In this paper, we focus on the first step, which resembles the rigor cycle, and develop a taxonomy for 32 existing IT value catalogues, which form the basis for the next three steps.
